James Madison University Office of Admissions Operations Supervisor
James Madison University invites applications for Operations Supervisor, a classified salaried position, within the Office of Admissions. JMU, a four-year public institution with over 17,700 undergraduate and graduate students, is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a rural city located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. The admissions office reports to the Office of the President and works closely with other enrollment service components of the university. JMU successfully implemented several PeopleSoft systems including Student Administration; upgrading to SA 9.0 November 2010.
Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor has significant responsibility providing technical expertise to the admission operation. This position oversees functionality of the Student Administration system as it relates to the admission process; provides statistical and other reports using PeopleSoft query tools and report writing software; and coordinates the testing of new software releases and recommends changes to insure essential functionality. The Operations Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to 8-12 data entry clerks and one full-time classified employee.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Demonstrated leadership in coordinating data management for a complex organization.
Knowledge and experience of relational databases and client server systems.
Understanding of student data and competitive admission processes.
Ability to work with a wide variety of people with demonstrated team building skills.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, goal oriented, attentive to detail, well organized and able to work well under pressure.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with PeopleSoft's Student Administration system.
Ability to analyze business processes and implement suggested changes.
Knowledge of query tools and report writing software.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Evidence of strong writing ability, solid judgment skills and effective motivation.

Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions (2 openings)
Goucher College seeks applications for the position of Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions. Located eight miles north of Baltimore, MD on a beautiful 287-acre campus, and having just celebrated its 125th anniversary, Goucher College is a national, selective liberal arts college of 1,450 undergraduate students. As the first, and still the only, traditional liberal arts college in the country to require all undergraduate students to study abroad, Goucher is well known for its academic rigor, global perspective, and sense of community.
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions will join an office of 14 employees, where enrollment goals are clearly shaped and admissions programming is carefully executed through a commitment to daily work and a focus on long-term efforts. S/he will be responsible for managing an assigned applicant pool, which includes extensive travel to secondary schools, and will represent Goucher College in other recruitment settings, evaluate applicant files, and meet with prospective students and families. The successful candidate will have strong organization and communication skills, sound judgment and integrity, and an appreciation of a customer service driven culture. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment is essential. Experience writing and posting web copy, managing webpage content, and communicating through the use of social network platforms is highly desirable. Record of successful admissions experience, including employment and volunteer work while an undergraduate student, will be of significant importance. The successful candidate will work occasional weekend and evening hours, possess a valid driver’s license, and will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
