Community Based Organization SIG Event - June 3rd 2-3 PM

Each year, more than 1 million students - a third of whom are first-generation - apply to college using the Common App. Common App recognizes the critical role community-based organizations play in helping students get to college. PCACAC's CBO SIG has invited Meredith Lombardi from Common App's Access & Equity Programs team to talk about the tools CBO advisors can use to support their students and families. Join us to learn more, ask questions, and connect with your colleagues.
Visit www.pcacac.org/special-interest-groups to connect with us the day of the event. Our SIG is open all CBO's in the PCACAC region (DC, DE, MD, VA & WV) if you are not a member of PCACAC and interested in our SIG please complete this google form to be added to our group: https://lnkd.in/d58SZmx

Counselor of the Year Recipients!

PCACAC is proud to have a strong membership of extremely talented people on all sides of the desk. In an endeavor to celebrate some of the best among us, this prestigious award was created to recognize PCACAC members who go above and beyond in their work with students.

Congratulations to the twelve 2021 Counselor of the Year award recipients announced during our 56th annual conference.

 Admission Practices Case Study

Check out the May/June case study! The rest of the study can be found here.

Situation: Student A has recently been accepted to Anchor University as a transfer student.  One of the major factors in their decision is ensuring that a good number of credits transfer from their current institution, as well as housing availability.  Student A has sent in their transcripts but has not yet heard back and the deadline to commit is quickly approaching.  They reached out to Anchor University and were told that students only receive a transfer credit estimate and housing options after committing to the university.  Is Anchor University being ethical in their stance?

PCACAC's 18th Annual Summer Institute

Registration is now open for PCACAC's Virtual 18th Annual Summer Institute!

Using a personalized setting, this event is uniquely designed to provide training, networking opportunities and leadership development for new and mid-level college admission and counseling professionals who assist students in the transition from high school to college. The Institute offers a lineup of sessions that promise to motivate and educate professionals on all sides of the desk. Your participation furthers our mission to support and advance college admission professionals like yourself as you guide your institution, students, and families in an ethical manner.

  • Producing Member spotlight pieces including video interviews in addition to print
  • Student spotlight/testimonials (video/print)
